Hi I’m Will. Welcome to Travel Strong.
I help people get in shape while they travel. Whether you’re backpacking your way around the world, spending a week or two away with family, or on a business trip, I’m here to help.
Maybe you’re here because you’re tired of putting on half a stone every time you go away for a week. Maybe you love indulging on different cuisines around the world, but need to do some damage control. Or maybe you spend a lot of time on the road and haven’t found a way to continue working towards the body you want.
Whatever your story, I want to help you learn how to make fitness complement your life, rather than ruling it.
Unfortunately, travel usually means forgetting all about your health and body, and is usually something people worry about when they get home. While I firmly believe that travel is about a lot more than obsessing over fitness and your health, it doesn’t mean that you have to completely forget about your goals, either.
I created Travel Strong to bridge the gap between travel and fitness.
I want to show you how to make positive changes in your life and travel smarter. I want to help you to work out properly with limited equipment, get your hands on a healthy meal regardless of where you are, and consistently improve your health and well being.
You’re capable of getting leaner, stronger and healthier as you travel. If you want a free bodyweight workout to help you get started and exclusive tips, join thousands of other by subscribing below:

About Will Owen
In 2012 I completed a degree in Law, and got a job shuffling boxes for a local firm of solicitors (that’s pretty much what a degree gets you these days). I used this job to save up enough money to fulfil my dream of travelling the world, or at least part of it.
During my time with the firm, my obsession with fitness and nutrition reached an all time high, and wasn’t something I was willing to let go of when I left home to travel in SE Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
I found that I was able to continue building muscle and getting leaner while on the road, but it wasn’t always easy. When I went looking for advice I didn’t find anything, so that’s why I decided to create Travel Strong.
Travel Strong is about showing you how to get leaner, stronger and healthier as you travel.
But here’s the thing: I am not a fitness expert.
While I am currently studying to become a qualified personal trainer, and always check the accuracy of my articles, I know there’s people out there who are smarter than me. That’s why I turn some of the most-highly regarded experts in the industry whenever I have a question; because I want to you bring you the best advice possible.
You can be confident that whatever you see on the blog is practical advice coming from not only me, but some of the smartest people in their respective industries.
The Philosophy of Travel Strong
I spent close to a year adjusting my exercises to the ‘hottest new routine’ and trying every fad diet under the sun. Besides following crappy routines, mixing it up all of the time only made things worse. After going months with no results, I eventually came to learn that whatever routine you choose to follow – crappy or not crappy – performing it with consistency is key to seeing any results. I learnt the exercises that work, and those that don’t, and how to build the body I wanted.
In the end, it all comes down to consistently exercising safely and efficiently, eating well and getting plenty of rest. Eating well does not mean starving yourself, depriving yourself of certain foods, or never eating the the stuff you really enjoy (cookies, ice cream, pizza etc).
This is perhaps the real ‘secret’ of getting the body you want. I’d go as far as saying nutrition accounts for at least 80% of your success. When you lift weights, run, whatever, your muscles need nutrients to recover and grow.
Eating well whilst on the road is going to be your biggest challenge. It’s going to take planning and some savvy choices, but it’s by no means impossible, and on the blog you’ll learn exactly how to do it.
My mission is to provide you with ways to build the body you want and get healthy whilst you are travel the world.
